Israel Resumes Combat Operations in Gaza
Tonight marked the end of the 42-day first phase of the agreed-upon ceasefire.

The Israeli army announced today that it has resumed combat operations in the Gaza Strip, reported Reuters, citing an official statement from the Israeli Defense Forces regarding the elimination of suspects in the enclave.
The targeted individuals were "observed planting an explosive device in the northern part of the Gaza Strip," the army statement said. "Israeli Air Force struck the suspicious individuals to neutralize the threat," the statement clarified, as also reported by AFP.

Earlier today, Reuters reported, citing health workers in the Gaza Strip, that four people were killed in an Israeli bombardment.
Prior to this, the Palestinian Civil Defense Service in the Gaza Strip reported Israeli artillery and tank fire today in the area of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the enclave, according to AFP.
"Artillery shelling and tank fire were directed at Abadan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis," the brief statement from the Gaza Civil Defense said, as quoted by AFP.
Tonight marked the end of the 42-day first phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the radical Palestinian group Hamas.
Israel halted access to humanitarian aid to the coastal territory early this morning and warned that "there will be further consequences."
