According to Israeli Channel 12, Israel is reportedly preparing to release all women and minors detained in Gaza in exchange for the remains of deceased Israeli hostages held by Hamas. This development is part of ongoing efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas.

As part of the agreement, Hamas is expected to return the bodies of four or five hostages on Thursday to Israel. An Israeli official told Walla that the ceasefire deal stipulates the bodies of some hostages would be returned to Israel on the 33rd day of the ceasefire, which went into effect on January 19

Israeli military ambulances will collect the bodies at a designated meeting point, and they will be taken to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Tel Aviv for identification. Families of the hostages will be notified only after the identification process is complete

The release of living hostages is also expected to continue, with three individuals scheduled for release on Saturday. Israel is reportedly pressuring for the release of all six remaining living hostages from phase one to occur on Saturday. In exchange for releasing additional hostages, Israel has reportedly signaled its willingness to allow more aid caravans to enter Gaza.

Reports indicate that a total of 25 hostages, along with the remains of eight others, are anticipated to be released during the initial six-week ceasefire that began last month. As of February 15, 70 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza, including the bodies of at least 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.

The situation remains fluid, with both sides navigating the complexities of the agreement while trying to address the urgent needs of their respective populations.
