Mauritanian Parliament President Emphasizes Regional Cooperation
Speaking at the meeting of heads of parliament from Atlantic African countries in Rabat, Mohamed Ould Mekt, President of the Mauritanian Parliament, emphasized the pivotal role of African Atlantic parliaments. He stated, “By virtue of the legitimacy granted by the peoples of the region, the parliaments of Atlantic African countries can unify regional efforts and strengthen joint initiatives to make this coastal space a true oasis of cooperation, peace, and stability.”

Ould Mekt highlighted the capacity of Atlantic parliaments to monitor governments’ commitment to implementing regional projects and initiatives related to peace and development. He stressed the importance of building trust between governments and their citizens by enhancing transparency, closely monitoring regional development and cooperation projects, and combating corruption.
