The Spanish government approved a loan of up to €754 million to Morocco for purchasing 40 intercity trains, announced by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Funded through FIEM, the loan aims to strengthen economic ties and support Spanish companies in supplying railway equipment for Morocco's intercity train network.

The Spanish government, under Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, has approved a loan of up to €754,302,566 to Morocco to finance the purchase of 40 intercity trains. The announcement was made following a Council of Ministers meeting.
The funding will be provided through the Fondo para la Internacionalización de Empresas (FIEM), a fund dedicated to supporting the internationalization of Spanish companies. The loan will be allocated to Morocco's Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF) and the Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance.
This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to promote the internationalization of Spanish businesses and strengthen bilateral economic relations between Spain and Morocco. The loan is expected to facilitate the active participation of Spanish companies in the supply and development of railway equipment for Morocco's intercity train network.
